The Purpose of So Cal Nostalgia AA/FC is:

1. Heads up Racing. To provide a class of real looking scale AA/FCs running heads up.

2. Innovation. Just like Drag Racing use to be before the cookie cutter cars.

3. Creating Teams. Getting people to work together to build a car.

4. History. Finding out more about the Sport.

5. Mentoring.

6. Fun.

 

Rules:

1.    Minimum weight:

1.1.  None; unlimited.

2.    Body:

2.1.  1984 and earlier.

2.2.  Body must be from a model Kit or resin cast.

2.3.  Must be a minimum scale of 1/25.

2.4.  Lexan may be used for “Clear” windows, panels or spoilers (with photo).

2.4.1.     Front wheel wells may be covered with clear Lexan.

2.4.1.1.          Must be .125 (1/8) of an inch above bottom of body.

2.4.1.2.          Body may not be mounted thru Lexan wheel cover.

2.4.2.     Example: Roof hatch in Don Schumacher’s John Buttera ’73 Vega.

2.4.3.     Full side windows allowed.

2.4.4.     No window needed on roadsters or pre ’71 funny cars with photo of a real car of the same year as body.

2.5.  Roadsters allowed thru 1971 body year. Must have same look as full size funny car roadsters.

2.6.  Any US production car.

2.7.  Any Non US Funny Car Body with supporting photo.

2.8.  Example: 280 Z, Snoopy Jag etc...

2.9.  Other Non US Production bodies may be used upon approval.

2.10.       Body may be narrowed to correct 1/25 scale width.

2.11.       Openings, Vents, etc in body outside the norm must have a supporting photo.

2.12.       Wheel wells may be enlarged or narrowed for scale appearance.

2.13.       Body may only be replaced during race due to non repairable damage. Must be same year, make, model, and configuration as original body.

2.14.       Must have 3 dimensional driver detail in correct location

2.15.       Must have a minimum of a 3 dimensional 2/4 Port Injector or Hat detail.

2.16.       Spoiler must be Period Correct. Spill Plates allowed only on correct era cars. ‘79 and earlier must have supporting photo.

2.17.       Canards allowed. Location on body to reflect real funny cars.

2.18.       Diaplanes not allowed.

2.19.       Bottom Line: Any Body Modifications are allowed as long as a supporting photograph of a modification done on full size funny cars in 1/25 scale through the racing season of Dec 31 of 1984.

3.    Chassis:

3.1.  Unlimited.

3.2.  Chassis may be any material.

3.3.  Front Wheels must mount to chassis in an upright position; angling not allowed.

3.4.  Must turn with body mounted in the racing position.

3.5.  Front axel may not be used to mount body.

3.6.  Inline, Side/Angle Winder, Belt, Drive Shaft, ???

3.7.  Full Body Pan allowed as part of Chassis. Must not be visible with body in racing position.

3.8.  Wheelie Bars to be a max of 5” from Centerline of rear axle to centerline of wheelie wheel axle.

3.9.  Any bearing or bushing on rear axle.

3.10. Any motor mounting system.

3.11. Canards allowed. Location on chassis to reflect real funny cars.

3.12. 1 chassis per car. May not be changes during the race. May be change during qualifying.

4.    Motor:

4.1.  Must use a “C” Can to start with.

4.2.  Any year “C” Can

4.3.  Any can modifications allowed. Unlimited.

4.4.  Any magnets.

4.5.  Any arm.

4.6.  Any end bell, hardware, springs, screws.

4.7.  Any bushing or bearings.

4.8.  Motor may be change between rounds.

4.9.  Bottom Line: If the can started out as a “C” can the motor is legal!!

5.    Tires:

5.1.  Rear:

5.1.1.     Rear tires must be a minimum of 1 3/16 inches in dia.

5.1.2.     Minimum of .500 wide contact patch.

5.1.3.     Wheels must be .500 wide + or - .125, X .550 Minimum Inside Dia.

5.1.4.     Tires cannot be cone shape.

5.1.5.     No cuts allowed in tire contact patch.

5.1.6.     No holes in outside sidewall of tire when view from side profile of Car.

5.1.7.     Any rubber or traction compound allowed.

5.1.8.     Tire must be black in color.

5.2.  Fronts:

5.2.1.     Tire .750 (3/4) inch minimum outside dia.

5.2.2.     Rim .650 inch minimum outside dia.

5.2.3.     Must be round.

5.2.4.     Must turn with body in racing position.

5.2.5.     Must have a rubber tire on wheel.

5.2.6.     Tire must be black in color.

6.    Racing:

6.1.  Qualifying:

6.1.1.     Low ET is #1 qualifier. Tie goes to higher MPH.

6.1.2.     2 Qualifying passes, one in each lane.

6.2.  Pro Tree (.400)

6.3.  Heads up…
